ABOUT

WARRAROONG ESTATE

The 18 acre vineyard at Warraroong produces small yields of the highest quality fruit and demonstrates the unique terroir of the Lovedale area. Show judges and critics agree and in recent years, Warraroong wines have been awarded 21 Trophies and 38 Gold Medals at national wine shows. Most recently, Warraroong took Gold medals for the 2005 Semillon in the recent Winewise Small Vigneron awards (Class 8, 2005 or older Semillon) and the 2007 Semillon in the recent 2009 Boutique Wine Show (Class 3).
  • Warraroong Estate was purchased in 2009 by Swish Wine who intend to continue the strong tradition of running a small boutique vineyard and winery specialising in grape varietals that best suit the area Terroir.
  • Most of our vineyard is now a very mature 30 years old and right in its prime, but we have continued to extensively improve the vineyard.
  • Currently we grow Semillon, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc & Shiraz.
  • The vineyard production is limited to two tonnes or less per acre in order to obtain the most flavour and best quality from the grapes.
  • All our grapes are hand picked to ensure the highest quality fruit is harvested in the best possible condition.
  • Our winemaker up until the 2009 vintage is Andrew Thomas, the multi-award winning winemaker and Hunter Valley 2008 Winemaker of the Year.
  • We have available our famous 2008 Long Lunch White - a full fruit-driven classic white blend of estate-grown grapes of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Verdelho. We now also have our 2007 Long Lunch Red , an estate grown traditional blend of Shiraz & Malbec.
  • Our cellar door, on the "off the beaten track" Wilderness Road in the Lovedale area, is located right inside our original boutique winery. You can enjoy a unique and enhanced wine tasting experience with us while enjoying the beautiful view across the Valley.
  • Warraroong is the aboriginal word for "Hillside" which describes the stunningly pretty location for our Hunter Valley five bedroom self-contained accommodation which is surrounded by our very successfull vineyard.
  • This Hunter Valley vineyard site was initially established in the late 1800's as part of the original Lovedale Daisy Hill Estate vineyard.
